Karnataka Chief Minister’s Meeting with Private Doctors Turns Fruitful Temporarily: Sources

Belagavi: A meeting between Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and the representative of Karnataka state unit of Indium Medical Association (IMA) has reportedly turned fruitful temporarily on Monday afternoon in Belagavi after chief minister assured the private doctors that some elements in the proposed Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (Amendment) Bill 2017 (KPME Bill 2017) will be modified soon followed by a meeting with them before the end of the winter session of the state legislature.

The chief minister has reportedly assured the protesting doctors that the government will table the bill in the current session of state legislature being held in Belagavi after a meeting with the representatives IMA.

The doctors are on protests in Belagavi and around the state to put pressure on the state government as it is scheduled to table KPME Bill 2017 in the current session of the state legislature. The doctors allege that the proposed bill could harm the way of functioning of private clinics, hospitals and profession of doctors in the state.

All private clinics, hospitals have remained closed on November 13 in Karnataka as part of Belagavi Chalo rally in Belagavi where winter session of the state legislature has started on Monday and the government had earlier planned to table the bill in the current session.
