Man stabbed with knife, crushed with boulder to death

Udupi: A murder probe has been launched after a person was stabbed to death with a knife and crushed with a boulder at Badabettu Bailoor here on the morning of Thursday November 23.

The victim, Vasanth Kumar (45), resident of Vasuki Nagar, Badagabettu, Bailoor, met death on Thursday morning. He used to live with his elder sister, Uma N.

At about 10.45 am on Thursday, neighbours heard someone raising an alarm from Kumar’s home. T S Gopinathan, a local, who was in the nearby church and some others living in the neighbourhood, rushed towards Kumar’s house on hearing the calls. They saw Vasanth Kumar lying in a pool of blood the rear door. A knife that was bent and a boulder were found near Kumar.

Kumar, who was seriously injured and bleeding profusely, was admitted to the district hospital but lost his battle for life at around 3.05 pm.

The police investigation is underway. Sources say that the investigating officials have got some clues about the murderer. A case was registered under section 302 of Indian Penal Code based on the complaint filed by T S Gopinathan.
