50 kg of poppy seized in J-K’s Poonch district

Jammu: Two people were arrested and 50 kg of poppy was seized from them in Jammu and Kashmir’s Poonch district, the police said today.

They were arrested from the Behramgalla area on the Mughal Road last night. Police seized 100 packets of poppy, weighing around 50 kg, from their truck. They were going from Kashmir to Punjab, an officer said.

A case was registered against the truck’s driver Jasdev Singh and its owner Balvinder, both residents of Ludhiana in Punjab, he said.  The matter is being investigated, the officer said.
