Bengaluru: A 30-year-old man was arrested by Kamakshipalya police for murdering his ex-girlfriend on December 26 when she refused to marry him.

The accused is identified as Mohammed Mubbin from Sirsi in Karwar. The deceased, Taslima Banu, 29, was married to Abdul Razzaq and a mother of two. She also hailed from Sirsi and was staying at Kabbehalla in Kamakshipalya after marriage.

Taslima and Mubbin were seeing each other in 2006 and had plans to get married. But Mubin was arrested on charges of theft and was sentenced to two years of imprisonment in 2009. In the year 2008, Taslima was married away to a welding shop owner in Kamakshipalya and shifted to Bengaluru.

After completing his jail term Mubbin flew to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in 2011 and started a job as a driver. All this while he was in touch with Taslima in spite of her being married. He also often sent her gifts from Saudi Arabia.

He came down to Bengaluru on December 20 to meet Taslima and wanted to get married to her desperately.

On December 26, Mubin visited Taslima’s house in the morning, while her husband was out on work and children at school. Mubbin forced her to leave her husband and get married to him. When she refused to divorce her husband and leave her kids, Mubbin went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife and stabbed her in the stomach and back and slit her throat. After killing her, he took all the gifts that he had sent her from Saudi Arabia including a gold chain and bangles that she had worn when she died.

Mubbin fled the spot and hid in different places like Hyderabad, Davangere, Huballi and Goa and went to Karwar. The police had kept a track on him and finally arrested him on Tuesday. The police have seized the weapons and ornaments from Mubbin.
