Bengaluru: Meghalaya High court Chief Justice Dinesh Maheshwari has been appointed as the Chief Justice of Karnataka.
Currently, Chief Justice H G Ramesh is serving the post. The Collegium has made public the ten names recommended for the post of Chief Justices of 10 High Courts.
The Collegium pointed out that Karnataka HC chief justice’s post has been lying vacant since October 9, 2017. It recommended that Justice Maheshwari be transferred to here for better administration.
The Collegium said that in seniority of HC Judges, Justice Dinesh Maheshwari stands below Justice H.G. Ramesh (currently acting Chief Justice of Karnataka HC Court), since the latter on an earlier occasion had chosen to deny himself the Chief Justiceship of High Court, his junior in service has been appointed to the post.
