Woman raped on pretext of marriage

Muzaffarnagar (UP): A 24-year-old woman was allegedly raped by a youth on pretext of marriage in Uttar Pradesh’s Shamli district here, police said today. According to the complaint lodged by the victim, on Feb 12 she was taken to a hotel by the accused where she was allegedly raped several times on pretext of marriage.

“The girl has established contact with the accused through Facebook,” a police official said, adding that the accused later demanded Rs 5 Lakh from the victim for marrying her.
