Panaji: Former Goa chief minister and current Congress MLA Pratapsinh Rane was admitted to a state-run hospital after he complained of fever.
Rane, 79, was last night admitted to the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in North Goa district after he suffered from mild fever, Goa Pradesh Congress Committee president Girish Chodankar told PTI today.
“Rane is admitted in the hospital’s medicine ward. He is likely to be discharged later today or tomorrow,” he said.
A senior official of GMCH said Rane came to the hospital yesterday following which some tests were conducted on him.
“He was advised to remain admitted as his condition required to be monitored,” the official added.
Rane is the five-time Congress legislator from Poriem constituency in North Goa.
He has been the longest serving chief minister of Goa.
His son Vishwajit Rane quit the Congress last year and joined the BJP. He is currently the health minister of Goa.
