Bengaluru: The six-coach train of Namma Metro in the state capital will start functioning today (Friday). Its first trip will be on the Baiyappanahalli-Mysuru track.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy and Deputy Chief Minister Dr.G.Parameshwara will signal off the six-coach train at Baiyappanahalli station on the Purple line at 5.30 pm. The train will move towards the Majestic station. The Chief Minister is said to travel on a same train in its debut trip.
As 40% of the metro travelers are women, the first coach of the train is reserved for women.
Three new coaches, obtained from Bharath Earth Movers Limited (BEML) have been connected with the old three coach train. BMRCL had intended to begin the six-coach train benefit from April 15. In any case, because of delay in software installation, AC, seats, shafts, wheels, outline, power association, and flagging, the administration was postponed.
BEML has the tender of giving 150 metro coaches to BMRCL in stages worth Rs. 1,421 crores. From July, BEML would give 6-9 coaches each month to the BMRCL according to the agreement and each of the coaches will be provided by December 2019. At any rate, BMRCL has asked for the BEML to supply all coaches by June 2019.
