Seers from Mutts decide to bring down Shiroor swami

Udupi: It is alleged that the Swamijis from other matts associated with Udupi Sri Krishna Matt have decided to bring down Shirror Matt seer, Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji from his position as the Shirror Matt head here.

Sources claim that the seers organized a secret meeting and have decided as not to as not to return the idol of the presiding deity of Shiroor Math, which is currently in Sri Krishna Math, to Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji unless he adopts a disciple as his successor.

Differences had cropped up between the Shiroor Swamiji and others on various issues as Shiroor Swamiji has often tried to break the traditions and norms which are mandatory to be followed here. The eight Maths here have been following the system of ‘pairing’ of Maths. Sode Math, which is the pairing Math for Shiroor Math and therefore has some say in various matters pertaining to the other Math, has often expressed dissatisfaction about the way in which Shiroor Swamiji has conducted himself.
