Mangaluru: Four women in the guise of customers entered Vijayalakshmi Jewelers located at Bhavanti Street in the city and unbeknownst to the store staff, made off with 6 pairs of gold bangles weighing 197 grams and worth Rs. 5,71,300 on July 18th.

On Wednesday, around 11:38 am in the morning, 4 women entered the jewelry store and asked the store owner Lalitha and staff on the variety of gold jewelry available. Later, when the store employee identified as Satish, went out for tea, the same team entered the store again and asked details on the gold ornaments.

During the second occasion, the team of women successfully distracted the store staff, while one of the women grabbed 6 pairs of gold bangles weighing 197 grams and worth Rs. 5,71,300 from the showcase and immediately left the premises. After some time, the remaining three women left the store premises.

In the night before the stores closure, when accounting was being carried on the day’s business, the 6 stolen bangles were not getting accounted for. On Thursday, when the CCTV footage was inspected, the robbery attempt by the women came to light.

A complaint in this regard has been filed with Bunder police by the shop owner.
