Jan Aushadi medicines sent to Kodagu and Kerala: Ananth Kumar

Bengaluru: Minister H.N. Ananth Kumar said the Centre is committed to help the flood hit regions in Kerala and Kodagu. 

Addressing the media, he  said that Jan Aushadi medicines worth Rs 1 crore besides 10,000 Jan Aushadi Suvidha sanitary napkins on behalf of the voluntary organization, Adamya Chetana have been dispatched in a truck each to Kodagu and Kerala.

Kumar said the Jan Aushadi  medicines carried by the trucks comprise 102 types of generic medicines worth Rs 1 crore which have a market value of Rs 3 crore. Medicines for diabetes, blood pressure, heart ailments and malaria are part of the consignment sent in the trucks.

The Jan Aushadi medicines have recieved approval from WHO.

The minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had the same concern for Kodagu as he had for Kerala and was aware of the loss caused to the rain-hit district. 

Discussions have already been held with Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs Hardeep Singh Puri. In Kodagu & Kerala, thousands of kilometres of roads have been damaged and houses wrecked in the landslides.
