Six persons dead due to lightning strike

Davangere: Six persons lost lives due to lightning strike at four districts in North and Central Karnataka. 

It has been reported that all the six victims were either working in fields or were on their way back home.

Shantamma (50), from Jagalur taluk, Davanagere district, was killed when she was working in the field. 

Nagaraj Sannabharamannavar (21), from Savanur taluk, Haveri district and Kumarappa Shivabasappa Kothin (50),from Hanagal taluk, Haveri district were struck dead by the lightning in separate incidents. They were returning homes when the incident happened.

Jaffarsab Daddusab Masuti (14) from Kurubagonda village, Hanagal taluk, suffered burns. He is undergoing treated at the government hospital. 

Also two cattle died as they were tied to a tree when the incident occurred. Veeranna is said have incurred losses upto Rs 80,000. 

Nagappa Nayak (40) from Manvi taluk, Raichur district dies as he was returning from his farm when the incident occurred. 

A mother and her daughter- Kavithabai (29) and Pallavi (11) were killed as the lightning struck them while they were returning home from a field.
