Mangaluru: BJP leaders who are questioning the contributions of Congress party have been challenged by the District Congress Spokesperson A C Vinay Raj, for an open debate on BJP’s contributions to the district in the past 28 years and the contributions of its MP in the last decade.

The MP’s Adarsha Grama lacked proper toilet facilities as well as drinking water and electricity connection, alleged Mr Raj speaking to the media at Congress office on Thursday, April 4.

Smart City Project

Speaking on the Smart City Project, Mr Raj said that though BJP is claiming it to be its achievement, in reality, of the total cost of the project at Rs 2,100 crore, the central government has only borne Rs 500 crore, while the state government has borne Rs 500 crore and the local bodies have borne the balance amount.

King of failures

Vinay Raj spoke on the incomplete never ending work on Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyovers and dubbed the local MP Nalin Kumar Kateel as King of Failures. The MP has often stated about upgrading Mangaluru Railway station, but nothing has happened, alleged Mr Raj.

Vinay Raj said that during the tenure of the Congress MPs, the district has prominent institutions like NMPT, Airport, NITK and others.

The district would vote for Congress candidate Mithun Rai this time, said Vinay confidently.
