Bengaluru: In order to keep the coalition government safe Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy is planning to reshuffle his Cabinet soon by getting some ministers to resign and replacing them with dissident legislators.
This plan if Kumaraswamy comes after the BJP swept the Lok Sabha election. The BJP won 25 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state, which has emboldened the saffron party in its resolve to move toward toppling the Congress-JD(S) government.
Several legislators are disgruntled, which the BJP might tap into and lure them, threatening the stability of the coalition government. Most of the disgruntled legislators are ministerial aspirants.
At present, the Cabinet has three vacant berths and the plan is to get three ministers from the JD(S) and the Congress to step down. That will make it nine vacancies that can be dangled to keep disgruntlement under check.
Meanwhile, the Congress has convened a meeting of its legislature party on Wednesday to discuss the current political developments in the state.
