Mangaluru: The Company has been directed to provide GP (Government Plan) letter and flight tickets within a week to 41 of the 72 Indians stranded in Kuwait after they had gone to the country with the aim of employment. 33 among the 72 stranded are from Mangaluru.

The decision was taken on Monday at a meeting attended by Shoon, Indian Embassy officials and the representatives of the company. But, since Rs 25,000 is required for the flight per individual, the workers are waiting for a sponsor.

The victim workers had gone to the country of GP visa. They were brought to Kuwait with assurances that they did be working for the government there but on reaching the country, they were handed over to a private company. In this backdrop, the visa lapsed and to avail the passport, submission of GP letter is mandatory. But the question is who will provide the GP letter?

If the GP letter and the flight ticket to return back to motherland is submitted, then Shoon will cancel the visa of the victims and hand over their passport to the Indian Embassy. It will later be handed over to the victims. But the workers who are in great financial difficulty cannot possibly purchase the flight tickets. Amidst this, it is being said that the company is putting in all its might to get resignation letters signed by the employees with the aim to show that the company has no connection with the victims.
