Kawasaki Ninja 300 has been officially recalled for replacing its faulty front-brake master cylinder. The company recalls 1,358 units of the Ninja 300 that were manufactured between August 2018 and March 2019, using locally sourced components.
The Japanese brand said that there is a possibility for brake failure since there is an issue with the front-brake cylinder made by Endurance. According to the company, the hardness of the primary lip seal in the front-brake cylinder is insufficient which could affect the braking efficiency of the bike, thus resulting in a crash.
Customers can check whether their bike gets affected by this issue and can contact the nearest authorised service centre of Kawasaki. The replacement will be done at free of cost. Dealers have also started contacting the Ninja 300 owners to rectify the issue.
With an aim of reducing the production costs, Kawasaki decided to localise some major components of the Ninja 300 in 2018. Following that, the Ninja 300 was produced using the locally sourced brakes, wheels, tyres, plastics and some body panels, which makes it around Rs.62,000 cheaper than the CKD (Completely Knocked Down) models.
Powering the Ninja 300 is a 296cc, liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine that generates 38bhp of power @ 11000rpm and 27Nm of torque @ 10000rpm. The fuel-injected engine gets mated to a 6-speed Manual gearbox. Braking duties are handled by Disc brakes at both ends with a single channel ABS. The 2019 version of the Ninja 300 has been offered with two additional colour options viz., Metallic Moon Dust Grey and Lime Green.
