Pilikula to host full dome film festival, planetarium conference from Nov 6-8

Mangaluru: Dakshin Kannada District Commissioner Sindhu B Roopesh on Monday informed that an international full dome film festival and planetarium conference will be held at Swami Vivekananda Planetarium Pilikula, Regional Science Centre at Pilikula here from November 6,

Addressing presspersons on the issue Sindhu said,”Former chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation, AS Kiran Kumar, will inaugurate the program on November 6 at 9 am.”

“Full Dome Film Festival was previously held in Surat, but for the first time it is being held in Mangaluru. 3D and 2D film will be simultaneously screened at the festival,” she added.

The event spectrum includes conference sessions for targeted groups of academicians and planetarium professionals as well as full-dome shows (multiple shows) for the general public and students.

“On November 7 films will be screened for selected children of government schools and the general public will be allowed to watch the films on November 9 and 10. People should book the tickets for full-dome shows through bookmyshow.com,” Sindhu informed.

In addition, several outreach activities for the student community of different age groups are also being organized and keynote talks and presentations will be made by nationally and internationally acclaimed speakers in the conference.

A large number of producers, both national and international repute, will be participating in the festival.

This flagship event is organised by the Pilikula Regional Science Centre Society and Karnataka Science and Technology Promotion Society, State Department of Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology, in association with M/s. infovision, Mumbai and Evans & Sutherland, USA for the first time in Pilikula.
