Mangaluru: Uppinangady police on Tuesday arrested the headmaster of a government higher primary school in Beltangady taluk on charges of raping a guest teacher.

In her complaint, the guest teacher accused school headmaster Manjunath K V, 41, of raping her on April 14 this year in the school premises after asking her to stay back for some work. The headmaster even assured her a permanent job at the school, she added.

The teacher said that she did not come forth to file a complaint earlier as she felt threatened to report the rape incident at the time.

Meanwhile, Manjunath has been remanded to 15-day judicial custody.

A case has been registered under Sections 376 and 506 of IPC.
