Udupi: Extending support to the Bandh called by Bahujan Kranti Morcha as an act of protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), shopowners in some parts of villages in the district heeded the call and downed their shutters.

Large parts of Belapu in Kaup taluk and Gangolli in Kundapura taluk saw a shutdown of shops. Due to the closure of shops, few people were seen on the streets in these parts.

A protest too has been called on Thursday, January 30 by an organisation called Sahabalve. Leader of the Bhim Army, Chandrashekhar Azad is said to participate in the protest.
