Greenland ice sheet has melted to a point of no return: Study

Researchers claim that Greenland’s glaciers have shrunk so much that the ice sheet would continue shrinking even if global warming were to stop today
The findings have been published in the journal Nature Communications Earth and Environment. Michalea King, the lead author of the study claims that Greenland’s ice sheet dumps more than 280 billion metric tons of melting ice into the ocean each year, making it the greatest single contributor to global sea level rise,
According to Phys.org, King and other researchers analyzed monthly satellite data from more than 200 large glaciers draining into the ocean around Greenland.
The researchers found that, throughout the 1980s and 90s, snow gained through accumulation and ice melted or calved from glaciers were mostly in balance, keeping the ice sheet intact.
