Govt will pay for COVID-19 treatment of Moodabidri teacher: Suresh Kumar

Bengaluru: The government will bear the full cost of the treatment of the teacher from Shirtadi in Moodabidri taluk, N Padmakshi, who was infected with COVID-19, Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar said.

Kumar said that immediately after hearing reports of the teacher couple testing positive for COVID-19 he telephoned the Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner and the Deputy Director of Public Education Department and instructed them to take good care of the teachers.

The Deputy Commissioner then called teacher Padmakshi’s daughter Aishwarya and affirmed to her the government will take full care of her mother’s treatment, Kumar added.

The Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa had also spoken to the Deputy Commissioner and instructed him to take all necessary steps to treat the teacher, he said.

The Deputy Commissioner also discussed with the hospital administration and told them that the government will bear the treatment bill of the teacher.
