Bengaluru: The state government is likely to postpone the Karnataka Rajyotsava awards ceremony to December due to the Covid-19 crisis.
The award selection committee headed by chief minister BS Yediyurappa met on Friday and seriously considered deferring the event, informed sources. However, there was no formal announcement.
The names of awardees would be announced in the next three to four days. Yediyurappa reportedly told committee members to select only deserving candidates and ignore any kind of lobbying for that.
Every year, the ceremony is held on November 1, which is Karnataka Rajyotsava Day. This time, it will be a low-key event. The committee decided to present the award to 65 achievers from various fields as it is the 65th Rajyotsava Day.
