3-week Lockdown: PM, Ministers lead by example; practise social distancing during cabinet meet

New Delhi: A day after Prime Minister Modi urged the entire nation to stay indoors and practise social distancing to break the chain of novel coronavirus, a image of the PM and cabinet ministers following the same, at a meeting held in the Prime Minister’s official residence in Delhi.
In the image, which is being circulated on social media, PM and Cabinet Ministers are seen seated a safe distance away from each other. Initially there were talks that the cabinet meeting, on day one of the 3-week lockdown, might be held via video conferencing but later it was held in the conventional way while making changes in the seating arrangements to maintain a safe distance from each other.
In his 8 pm address to the nation of March 24 PM Modi said that social distancing was not just for patients but everyone, including the Prime Minister.
Stay indoors for the next 21- day period urged Modi to citizens as the nation is witnessing increasing cases of the pandemic. More than 530 coronavirus cases have been reported in India and as many as 10 people have died so far.
Apart from healthcare arrangements, the government is also tasked with the challenge of ensuring the supply of essentials like milk, vegetables, medicines.
