Bengaluru: Sandalwood actress Shruti on Thursday visited the Kempegowda Bus Station to view the implementation of the Sthree toilet.
Shruti reviewed the Sthree toilet and spoke to concerned officials to gather information about implementation, construction, benefits to women, and the need for women’s toilets.
Sthree toilet bus is placed in the crowded bus stand of Bengaluru called Majestic and was sorely needed since most bus stands in the city do not have separate toilets for females.
The bus has six toilet seats, three in Indian style and the rest in western. It has a shower area fitted with water sensors, a sanitary napkin dispensing machine, incinerator, breastfeeding room, diaper-changing station and a panic button.
The bus is fitted with solar panels which helps it to generate powers. Besides, it comes with solar sensor lights and a wash basin.
The state government plans to convert more old buses into such washrooms and deploy them at crowded bus stations.
