Mangaluru: Chaotic situation prevailed at the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) meeting, held on Thursday, August 30, as former Mayor Kavitha Sanil and incumbent Mayor Bhasker Moily engaged in a heated argument over the demolition of a house in the former’s ward limits.
Miffed over the demolition of a house, built by a commoner on one-and-a-half-cent of land in her ward, corporator Sanil alleged that the MCC was targeting the poor while turning a blind eye towards the rich.
“No action is taken against those buildings belonging to the rich class even if they are found violating the rules,” Sanil alleged.
In response, Moily questioned the quantum of work done by her during her tenure as the Mayor for the poor class.
All present at the meeting were astonished at the heated excahnge between the two, who ironically belong to the same party.
