Mangaluru: Members of the Bajrang Dal successfully intercepted a vehicle engaged in the illegal transportation of cattle, rescuing five distressed animals.
The incident took place near Bhandarabailu, close to Kuttaru, where the vigilant Bajrang Dal activists halted the vehicle and promptly handed it over to the local police.
The vehicle in question, a Kerala registered Ace, was found to be carrying five cattle in an inhumane manner. The perpetrators had loaded the animals onto the vehicle through Mudipu, Konaje, and Madaka. However, their illicit activities were disrupted when the vehicle came to a halt on the steep turn of Bhandara Bailu Road.
The Bajrang Dal members, who happened to be present at the scene, rushed to aid the driver, who seemed to be in distress. To their shock, they discovered that the vehicle contained strangled and tightly bound cattle, hidden beneath a pile of plastic trays filled with fish. Sensing trouble, the driver and another individual swiftly fled the scene, abandoning the vehicle. Likewise, two other individuals who were providing escort on motorcycles also made a hasty escape, abandoning their bikes.
Undeterred, the Bajrang Dal workers immediately took action and managed to rescue two bulls, one cow, and a calf from the ill-fated vehicle.
Regrettably, one calf managed to escape during the chaos. Demonstrating their commitment to upholding the law, the Bajrang Dal promptly handed over the rescued animals to the Ullal police station.
