CAB issue: Sec 144 imposed in Kalaburagi

Kalaburagi: In the wake of massive protests in northeastern states over the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kishorebabu imposed Section 144 of the CRPC, which prohibits assembly of more than four people in an area, in Kalaburagi city to maintain law and order and social harmony.

The prohibitory orders came into effect from 6 am and will remain in force till 6 pm. He however added that the Deputy Commissioner’s office and the surrounding areas of masjids will not come under the purview of the prohibitory orders.

Earlier, various Muslim organisations had staged protests against the passage of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB).
