New Delhi: The Centre and Opposition parties arrived at a consensus to hold a standalone discussion on the farmer protests for 15 hours in parliament during the Motion of Thanks.
However chaos erupted in Rajya Sabha soon after Chairman Venkaiah Naidu announced that the discussion would take place after the debate on the motion of thanks to the President’s address to the joint sitting last Friday.
Three Aam Aadmi Party members — Sanjay Singh, Sushil Kumar Gupta and N D Gupta — trooped into the Well of the House raising slogans against the new farm laws.
Invoking Rule 255 (withdrawal of member), Naidu asked the three members to withdraw from the House. The disruption led the chairman to adjourn Rajya Sabha proceedings briefly till 9.40 am.
