Container boxes topple on school bldg damaging its walls

Mangaluru: Container boxes, stored alongside a government school in Baikampady industrial area toppled over on the school building thus damaging the school walls.

Luckily the incident took place at a time when the school was closed and came to light only when the school opened on Monday morning. Owing to the mishap the compound wall of the Baikampady Angaragundi government school has collapsed and the walls of school buildings too developed cracks. 

It is gathered that a private company had placed the container boxes, brought from NMPT alongside the school premises. As news of the incident spread, parents and locals rushed to the spot and sought action against the company owner for risking lives of children studying at the school. Mangaluru north BEO Manjula, Baikampady corporator Purushottam Chitrapur visited the spot and took the company owner to task for storing the boxes in a dangerous manner near the school vicinity.

Local people have urged to shift the containers from the school vicinity immediately. Meanwhile, the company owner has assured of reconstructing the compound and school walls.

School headmistress Ravikala Shetty has filed a complaint with Panambur police in this regards.
