Deepak Rao murder Case; accused arrested

Mangaluru: Another accused in the murder of Deepak Rao at Katipalla was arrested by the The City Crime Branch (CCB) police on Tuesday, July 17th.

The arrested has been identified as Safwan alias Chappu (23) from Krishnapura in Suratkal and is the brother of Rizwan, the prime accused in the case. Safan was nabbed near Mukka.

The operation was carried out by the CCB team led by inspector Shantharama, PSI Shyam Sundar and Kabbal Raj and the arrested absconding accused has been sent to the custody of probe officer Manjunath Shetty, ACP Traffic for further action.

Case synopsis

On January 3rd, 2018, Deepak Rao (30) who was working in a mobile shop owned by one Abdul Majeed, was brutally attacked by four miscreants, who had arrived in a white Swift car armed with lethal weapons.

12 accused in the murder have already been arrested and remanded to judicial custody after the case was registered at Suratkal Police Station.
