Deputy CM Parameshwara orders probe into Shiroor Mutt chief’s death

Udupi: Deputy Chief Minister and State Home Minister Dr G Parameshwara said that probe would be led into the sudden demise of Shiroor Mutt chief seer Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji.
Parameshwara said that the mutt followers have demanded a probe and are asking several questions on the demise of the chief.
Seer’s advocate Ravikiran Murdeshwar said that Sri Lakshmivara Theertha had earlier told him that his life was under threat. Murdeshwar demanded an impartial probe into the death of the seer and added that the seer had asked him to file criminal cases against six of the Ashta Mutt seers over the idol.
Sri Lakshmivara Theertha Swamiji who was known for his candid statements had also been a controversial figure. He even hit headlines when he had filed his nomination as independent candidate for the recent assembly elections . However, he had later withdrawn his nomination.
