Final voters’ list to be released on Jan 5, 2023: DK DC

Mangaluru: Deputy commissioner (DC) Ravikumar M R on Thursday said that around 62,829 claims and applications were submitted as part of the district’s review of its electoral rolls between November 9 and December 7.

Speaking during a press conference held on Thursday, Ravikumar said, ” The official voter list will be made public on January 5, 2023. 16,065 applications have been submitted for review out of which 8,173 applications have been approved and 1,449 applications were rejected.”

He further said, “From August 4 to October 24 there was a complete revision of the voter list. On November 9, the revised draft of the voters’ list was released. The applications and rights were received between November 9 and December 8. Also, the special registration drive was held on November 12 and 20, as well as on December 3 and 4. By December 26, the rights and applications will be approved and on January 5, the final voter list will be released.”

“The draft electoral rolls for the year 2023 contain 17,08,955 voters. The total number of voters on the 2022 voter list was 17,53,328. There were 1,861 polling booths on the final list for the year 2022. There are 1,860 voting booths on the draft electoral rolls for 2023. As many as 29,410 names have been added to the electoral rolls after the special summary review in 2022. Around 73,783 names have been deleted. A total of 21,537 names have been deleted due to deaths,” he added
