Bengaluru: Former Chief Minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy on Sunday said he was “deeply shocked” by the news that eight students had committed suicide in the state just because they did not get the desired marks or failed in the 2nd PUC examination results announced on June 18.
”The exam score is not everything in life. Pass-fail is common, there are ups and downs in life as well. Those who have scored low can always try to better score in the next examination. Similarly, those who have failed also can pass in the next attempt. Ending life just because of low scores or failing exams is an injustice to the parents and loved ones,” he said.
Further, Kumaraswamy called the society to instill in students the confidence to face the ups and downs of life. “There will be many more ordeals throughout life. Parents, faculty, educational institutions & education department should teach students how to face them with courage and perseverance,” he said.
”Despite the poor academic performance, many people have gone on to attain high positions. So there is no need to be disheartened. Parents should also reassure their children and instill confidence in their sensitive minds with affection,” he said.
