It is increasingly common to hear of individuals who have had their bank account hacked. Like many Indians, you might have become a victim of bank fraud and it’s usually tied to a password that has been stolen, guessed or tricked into sharing with cybercriminals.
Here’s how hackers target your bank account
Hackers can fake an existing banking app. A malware author creates a perfect replica of a bank’s app and uploads it to shady third-party sites. Once you’ve downloaded the bad app, you enter your username and password into it, which is then sent to the hacker
Beware of any emails or phone calls from numbers claiming to be your bank. They might just be looking to steal your information to access your account.
Avoid logging into your bank account on public Wi-Fi, as hackers could use the public connection to intercept your information and access your accounts.
Avoid clicking on adware popups. That is a popular way that fraudsters love to embed malware
Refrain from sharing too much of your personal information on social media The more pieces of personal data a hacker has of yours, the greater likelihood they can use that information to find their way into your account.
