  • U T Khader inaugurates Indira canteen in Puttur

Puttur: There is an aim to extend the much ambitious Indira canteen scheme started by the Siddaramaiah government to hobli levels, informed minister U T Khader.

He was speaking after inaugurating the Indira Canteen in Puttur and at the foundation stone laying ceremony for the work on providing drinking water to Puttur city under the ADB plan in joint cooperation with the municipality and KUIDFC.

Indira Gandhi introduced the fair price shops in the country through which she provided food grains and pulses at a lower price to the people. Under her dream scheme, now not just food grains but also food is being provided by us. I’m happy that the special scheme has been implemented for the benefit of the economically backward like the auto rickshaw drivers, day wage labourers, private employees, school and college children, said Mr Khader.

Water responsibility

The government is working on providing adequate water for the people said the minister and added that in the future, facility will be provided for the submission of application for water connection while availing the license for the construction of homes.

BPL for 20 lakh people

Through Aadhar card, a facility has been provided through which BPL will be provided to those with an annual income beneath Rs 1.20 lakh. Because of this close to 20 lakh people will get BPL card, he informed.

Do not politicize soldier’s service

It is wrong to use the sacrifice and service of the soldiers for politics. Such claims will become a black spot for the state said Khader condemning BJP state president Yeddurappa’s statements. Speaking to media in Puttur, Khader said that the country’s people must be in support for the soldiers and their families. But, during such an occasion, using it politically is not right, said the minister.
