Bengaluru: The Congress party is likely to field, Tabu Gundu Rao, wife of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president Dinesh Gundu Rao from the Shivajinagar Assembly constituency for the upcoming by-polls in the state.
According to sources, Tabu will be fielded from Shivajinagar Assembly constituency of Leader of Opposition and Congress leaders Siddaramaiah approves of her candidature.
It is gathered also that the party leaders of Shivaji Nagar have demanded to field Tabu from the Shivajinagar constituency and Dinesh Gundu Rao has also been putting all efforts to ensure that his wife contest from Shivajinagar as the party does not have any suitable candidate.
Recently Tabu herself gave some clues and shown some interest right after the resignation of R Roshan Baig, a disqualified Congress leader, who was not inducted into the BJP reportedly due to the IMA Ponzi scam and allegations against him in RSS worker Rudresh’s murder case.
Fifteen out of the 17 constituencies represented by disqualified MLAs will be going for by-polls, while by-elections to Maski and RR Nagar constituencies have been withheld as separate cases with regard to them, are pending before the high court.
