Mangaluru: 12,998 migrant workers leave city for home

Mangaluru: A total of 12,998 out of State migrant workers in the Dakshina Kannada district were sent off to their hometowns on Saturday, May 16.

About 3,000 people had left from Mangalore Junction station to Bihar and Jharkhand on Friday, May 15.

As many as 40,510 workers from other states in Dakshina Kannada district have registered through the Seva Sindhu app. Of these, 6,000 from Uttar Pradesh, 4200 from Bihar and 1,148 from Jharkhand have already left the district.

12,970 people from 25 states and from the districts of Bagalkot, Gadag and Vijayapur have left the district in 500 buses.

A special train from Thiruvananthapuram to New Delhi left Mangaluru Junction at 5.30 am on Saturday. 262 migrant workers from the city left on the train.
