Mangaluru: In the span of a month, Ganesh Chathurti will be arriving and those living out station will be coming back to their hometowns as per normal. Bearing this in their minds, private bus owners have doubled their fares almost a month before the festival itself. The fare may further increase in the coming days.

On regular days, private buses charge Rs 700 to travel from Bengaluru to Mangaluru. But two days before the festival on Friday (Aug 30), the far prices from Bengaluru to Mangaluru increase to a maximum of Rs 1,800.

This time, Chathurti festival falls on Monday September 2 and private and government offices will remain shut on Sunday. Therefore most of the people travel on Friday itself.

Route ticket fares of private buses during Ganesh Chathurti

Routes Fares
Bengaluru-Mangaluru Rs 1,800
