Mangaluru: A proposal to develop road from Jeppu Market to Mphasis via Gujjarakere, at an estimated cost of Rs 1 crore, has been submitted to the PWD Minister, said Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath.
Since the existing road is not in a good condition, a concrete road will replace it and provide connectivity to Gujjarakere, he added.
“The officials have been directed to complete the work at the earliest and about 75% of the work on plugging sewage to Gujjarakere has been checked. The officials from Minor Irrigation, PWD and Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) have been asked to submit an estimate for the pending works on the lake development project. Once an estimate is prepared, funds can be mobilized to develop the lake,” he explained.
A sum of Rs 1 crore was sanctioned towards the Minor Irrigation department to take up the work on Gujjarakere, but the work remains pending. Officials have been directed to get a report from the Agriculture Research Station in Brahmavar and a research institute from Thiruvananthapuram, on the release of fauna to check the growth of weeds in the lake, he added.
