Rahul asks Modi to clarify on BJP ticket to corrupt Reddy brothers

Bhatkal: In a scorching assault, Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Thursday demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to explain why the BJP offered tickets to Karnataka’s corrupted Reddy siblings to challenge in the May 12 elections.

Addressing the gathering at Bhatkal Rahul said “Modi, who discusses battling corruption, must disclose to the general population why he is supporting the corrupt Reddy brothers by offering ticket to compete in the state assembly election,”

The resistance Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chose G. Karunakara Reddy and G. Somashekar Reddy, the brothers of the mining scam tainted G. Janardhan Reddy, to challenge from Harpanahalli and Ballari constituencies in Ballari.

The party has likewise handled Lallesh Reddy, nephew of the Reddy brothers, from the BTM Layout sector in Bengaluru against state Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy of the Congress.

Blaming Modi for professedly changing the nation’s head investigation agency CBI to “Central Bureau of Illegal Mining”, Gandhi accused the Prime Minister of supporting the Reddy family in the state.

“We need the general population of Karnataka to be a part of the government and not of the Reddy brothers. Why is Modi supporting and securing the corrupt? We will never enable them to dupe the state,” he said.

Janardhan Reddy was captured and imprisoned for around two years after the state’s Lokayukta named him in the multi-crore iron ore mining scam in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh for about 10 years (2001-10).

“When I had requested that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah help farmers, he quickly waived off Rs 8,000 crore worth of laons,” he included.

Gandhi, who is on a two-day visit to the election bound southern state beginning Thursday, launched the party’s campaign for the election in the coastal district.

He will discharged the party’s election manifesto in the port city of Mangaluru today, alongside senior pioneers like Karnataka in-charge K.C. Venugopal and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
