Red Alert in Dakshina Kannada on Aug 7, 8

Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil on Tuesday announced a ‘red alert’ in the district on August 7 and 8 in view of the torrential rains lashing across the district.

Water-level in River Nethravathi and Kumaradhara has increased drastically in the backdrop of the bountiful rains in the region.

Since heavy downpour is expected to continue for a few more days, Senthil urged residents to stay safe and inform the authorities in case of any emergency.

Meanwhile, Puttur Assistant Commissioner Krishnamurthy announced a holiday for schools and Anganwadi centres in Puttur, Kadaba and Belthangady taluks on Tuesday.

Bantwal tahsildar Rashmi and Sullia tahsildar Kunhi Ahmmed too have declared holiday for schools and Anganwadi centres in Bantwal and Sullia taluks in view of the heavy rains.
