Sadhguru proposes an alternative to the pollution generated by Diwali

Come Diwali we see debate over the use of firecrackers and the resultant air pollution. However, spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev recalling his childhood days when he was looked forward to bursting crackers during Diwali has suggested the adults to sacrifice for the cause of children.

As an alternative solution for air pollution, he remarked “As your sacrifice for them, walk to your office for 3 days. Let them have the fun of bursting crackers.”

Sadhguru remarked in a video he released on Twitter: “I have not lit a cracker in quite a few years. But when I was a child, how much it meant… from the month of September, we’ll be dreaming of crackers and after Diwali is over, the next one-two months, we will save the crackers and keep on doing them every day.”

The Supreme Court just two days ago overturned a broad ban on firecrackers issued by the Calcutta High Court in West Bengal. The bench found that certified green crackers can be sold and burst in places where air quality is “excellent” or “moderate.”

The order was issued by a Supreme Court vacation bench. Two petitions were heard by the bench, both challenging the Calcutta High Court’s blanket prohibition on firecrackers, including green crackers. Dealers in fireworks filed the petitions.
