Mysuru: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday, April 20 documented his nomination to challenge the upcoming state assembly elections from Chamundeshwari .

An official from the Chief Minister’s Office said “Siddaramaiah, alongside his son Yathindra, paid a visit to Chamundeshwari temple on Chamundi Hills in Mysuru to seek blessings from goddess Durga before filing his nomination,”

The 69-year-old veteran leader challenged from Chamundeshwari constituency seven times since 1983 and won five times. He later moved his electorate to Varuna in Mysuru area, from where he was chosen twice since 2008, including 2013 assembly elections.

Siddaramaiah has cleared path for his son, Yathindra, to challenge the elections from Varuna. Yathindra, who will be making a debut in politics this year also filed his nomination papers on Friday.

Siddaramaiah changed over to the Congress from the Janata Dal-Secular (JD-S) in August 2006 after contrasts with its supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda and his son former Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy.

He is additionally just second legislator in the southern state to complete the five-year term as Chief Minister in 40 years after Devaraj Urs did from 1972-78.

In the mean time, JD-S state president Kumaraswamy recorded his nomination for the state elections from both Channapatna and Ramanagara in Ramanagara area.
