Speeding lorry mows down degree student near Kinnigoli

Kinnigoli: A degree student was killed and another was seriously injured after a speeding lorry hit the scooter he was travelling on at at Moorukaveri in Kinnigoli on September 7th.

The deceased has been identified as Vaeshit (21) a resident of Karnad and the grievously injured student has been identified as Derek Vas (20). The njured student is receiving treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Accident synopsis

On Friday afternoon, the duo Varshith and Derek were on their way for lunch riding an Activa scooter when an speeding lorry hit their scooter. Varshith was thrown off the scooter, came under the wheels of the lorry and died on the spot.

The deceased Varshith was pursuing final year BBM at Pompei College, while Derek was a 2nd year BBM student of the same college.

A case has been registered at Mangaluru North police station.
