Subrahmanya: Six masked and armed individuals, suspected to be Naxals, reportedly visited the house on the edge of the forest in Cheru, located in Bilinele village of Kadaba taluk on Thursday night. According to confirmed reports, all individuals were dressed identically, concealing their faces, and one was carrying a large bag suspected to contain firearm.
Upon arrival, the intruders switched off the electric lights and the homeowner’s mobile phone while increasing the volume of the television. Two of them entered the house, while the remaining four stood guard outside. The family observed that the individuals spoke in Kannada and other languages. They then requested food, dining on chicken available at the house, before leaving with the requested materials, including rice, and heading towards the forest.
In response to the incident, police officials and anti-Naxal forces swiftly visited the Cheru residence to gather information. Additionally, Anti-Naxal Force (ANF) units have initiated combing operations in the nearby forest.
Notably, the house lies within the forest, adjacent to the Subrahmanya-Gundya highway.
This recent encounter with Naxals has reignited anxiety among the residents of Subrahmanya, who have expressed concerns over the frequency of Naxalite appearances in the area. Locals have demanded increased police security and enhanced patrolling in select regions frequented by Naxals.
