Brahmavar: In a new twist to the death of a 28-year-old woman owing to burn injuries, it is now learnt that the woman had set herself ablaze contrary to reports that she suffered burn injuries owing to the cell phone explosion.

The woman Ashwini from Bobbaryanakere Dandebettu near Mabukala in the taluk died on  Sunday, February 17 night at a city hospital.

As per earlier reports, it was said that Ashwini was speaking over the phone when it exploded. However further investigation into the case has revealed that she had set herself ablaze by pouring kerosene on herself inside the bathroom on Sunday at around 7 pm.

It is gathered that Ashwini had been suffering from psychotic depression in the past and had undergone treatment for the same. In December last year, she got married to Purushotham from Malpe and had shown suicidal tendencies in the last one month. On February 14, she along with her husband had come to her parental home and she appeared to be quite happy. The couple had also visited the local temple and offered prayers to the presiding deity.

It was during her stay here that Ashwini committed suicide. She was immediately taken to a hospital where she succumbed later.

A complaint relating to this incident stands registered in Kota police station.
