Puttur: A KSRTC bus conductor became an unlikely hero in solving a 4-month-old robbery on a bus.
The conductor, Ashok Jadhav, not only recognized the suspects when they boarded the bus on November 12 but also tipped-off his superiors and the cops leading to their arrest.
Jadhav was on duty on the bus trip to Mangaluru from Bengaluru on July 10 on which a woman passenger lost a bag containing valuables. Two persons who had got down at Gadiyara in Uppinangady were the prime suspects in the case. The duo disappeared and never caught the bus to reach their destination. After waiting for them for a while the bus had proceeded toward its destination.
The theft had come to light later and a complaint had been registered about the same in Puttur and Bengaluru.
On the night of November 12, the same persons boarded the bus at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda Bus Terminus. Jadhav who was on duty on the same bus recognized the dup as the suspects wanted in theft case.
He told his observations to his superiors who then alerted the police. Police, later during an investigation, found they were the suspects wanted in the theft that had occurred on the same bus about 4 months ago.
KSRTC Managing director V Anbukumar lauded Ashok Jadhav’s alertness and presence of mind.
