Take quick decision on restructuring Congress Committee: Digvijay to Rahul

Indore: Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh on Saturday urged party vice-president Rahul Gandhi to decide fast on restructuring the All India Congress Committee (AICC).

Singh’s comments came in the wake of the party’s poor performance in two of the five states assembly polls held recently – Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

“Rahul (Gandhi) has all the qualities to lead the Congress. But I have a complaint with him. He is not taking quick decisions on restructuring the AICC,” he told reporters here.

“The Congress workers’ eyes are set on him. He should take the decision on it (restructuring AICC) fast,” added Singh.

“It is being said that some people stop Rahul from taking decisions. I say if he wants to take some harsh decision for restructuring AICC he should definitely go for it.

“If he (Rahul) wants to remove senior leaders from AICC, he should remove me first. But he should take the call,” he added.

The former Madhya Pradesh chief minister said the Congress is the only political party, capable of taking on the BJP.

“If the Congress sets its house in order and touches the ground, the tide will turn in our favour,” Singh added.

About the Congress failure to form government in Manipur and Goa, he said his party had emerged as the largest party in assembly polls in these states.

Singh alleged that “the BJP with ample money bought the leaders and formed its government in both these states where the due procedure wasn’t followed.”

“The BJP’s mascot of development plank stands unmasked with Yogi Adityanath becoming the Uttar Pradesh chief minister. Adityanath has been charged with fanning communal riots and committing serious crimes,” he further alleged.
