Two arrested for cattle trafficking

Operation at Ganjimata

Bajpe: Two persons who had stolen cattle from Moodbidri and were in the process of transporting the bovines illegally in a tipper lorry were caught red-handed in an operation conducted by the police at Ganjimata on Tuesday night.

On Tuesday, around 8:50 pm in the night, the cops directed the tipper lorry driver to stop his vehicle since he was over-speeding. The driver immediately stopped the lorry near Raj Academy in Ganjimata and the four passengers within the vehicle attempted to escape. Of them, the cops chased and caught Abdul Rahiman (42) of Adduru Kucchegudde and Usman (46), a resident near Badriya Masjid in Addur.

Ganjimata cattle trafficking accused

The inspection of the tipper lorry revealed a total of 18 cows within the vehicle. The cops seized the animals as well as the lorry transporting them and the the total amount of the confiscated items is estimated to be worth around Rs 5 lakh.
