Udupi: The bus owners association president K. Suresh Kumar said that the city buses will start operating from June 1.

“The owners don’t have the plan to run all the buses from the start. We have planned to run one bus in one route each and gradually increase the number of buses based on passenger response,” he said.

“Post Lockdown many bus operators have surrendered permits to the regional transport office. The owners were unable to surrender the license of 10% of buses due to different reasons. The tax exemption by the government will now benefit non-surrendered vehicle owners,” he added.

There are 90 buses in the Udupi city bus route.
